On Point

2014 | Stainless Steel | 27.5”H x 5”W x 5”D | Unique

On Point started as an ode to the classic "Bather" motif that artists have painted or sculpted for centuries.  Initially, the plan was to create a realistic sculpture. However, as I started sketching, I became curious about the aspects of this pose that interested me and decided to explore ways to reduce the forms and lines of the figure into an abstracted shape that had a bold simplicity and fluidity. During this time, I was also heavily influenced by the work of Alexander Archipenko, a Russian sculptor from the early 20th century whose work I greatly admire. Contact me to learn more.
