I am honored to have my bronze sculpture “Eve” accepted into the “Art at the X: Celebrating 50 Years of Women at Xavier” exhibit at Xavier University here in Cincinnati, Ohio. (see show details below)
I had a sneak peek of the show last week and was blown away by the work in the show and thrilled to be in such good company! –Paul
About Eve
An intense gaze and coiled design were at the heart of this piece as I began to conceive it, focusing on using negative space to create tension. I wanted my sculpture to invite the viewer to question whether Eve is collecting apples for herself, or offering them up to someone else. In contrast to traditional stories of Eve that center on the loss of innocence and submission, I wanted my Eve to be powerful and in control of her outcome, while also giving her a lyrical sensuality.
