I participated in my last Somerville Open Studios (SOS) in May, and below is a narrated tour of the studio as it was set up for the weekend.
After 35+ wonderful years in the New England, I have decided to pack up the studio and head back to my motherland – Cincinnati, Ohio – to start the next chapter in my life. This final SOS weekend was like a retrospective of my work over the past 10 years. It was fun to share the work and space and I’m grateful to everyone who came out despite some less than ideal weather.
I’ve been fortunate enough to have had two wonderful spaces to create in over the past six years, and talented artists around me, first at the Vernon Street Studios, and most recently here on the top floor of the Taza Chocolate Building in East Somerville. My friend, and most excellent photographer, Matt McKee was kind enough to stop and document the space for me and a number of his images are below. He did a great job capturing what I loved about this space! I’ll miss it, and my fellow studios mates, to be sure.
But now it’s “On to Cincinnati” and I’m looking forward to securing a new studio and eager to get back to work! – Paul
